Located in Al-Maten district, Majdel Tarshish is one of the highest cities in the area, starting from Deir Jean Paul at an elevation of 1750 meters. This hike offers a marvelous valley view overlooking channel 11 and Zaarour mountains , passing by Daher el Mtein and Baloue Majdel Tarshish and Howet el Dara , the raw beauty and rich vegetation of this area make it a favorite spot for sunset lovers.

Once we arrive, we will move towards a guided caving excursion inside “Mgharet el Nejmeh”. The Fouar el Dara cave is 3.5 km long and 628 meters underground, with gigantic chambers surrounded by glittering rocks, strange formations, deep canyons and pits, and tight crawlways. We will explore the first section of the cave up to Howet el Dara (around 260 meters). The cave’s remaining levels are inaccessible.

We will spend around 60 mins caving where we pass through amazing views inside and outside the cave. Once we finish, we change our shoes or wet pants before we start our hike through several beautiful sunset spots as we pass through as much as we can according to our energy power.

After the sunset, we will resume hiking with light bulbs until we reach the bonfire where hikers can bring anything of their preference such as potatoes, marshmallows, etc. in addition to ordering Saj and/or drinks as well.

Our hiking information:
- Distance: 7 - 10km
- Hiking level Medium (4/10)
- Cumulative ascent: +100m
- Cumulative descent: -300m
- Altitude: max 1200m min 1100m
- Time for hiking & caving between 4:00 hours slow steps
- We will have approximately 10 short breaks of around 2 mins each before we reach the end.

Best stuff to bring with you for hiking are the following:
- Backpack
- Extra pants, socks (if needed)
- Extra shoes to be used for caving.
- ID Card or Passport
- Self Insurance Card (if you have one)
- Extra sweatshirt and a thin jacket
- Hiking shoes
- 2 liters of water
- Dried fruits or chocolate power bars for hiking that keep you warm and give you power to hike.
